Lamp Disposal Violations Cost Money, Create Bad Press

lampsThe AP has reported that the state of Oregon has fined a California-based company $24,000 for improperly disposing of mercury-containing bulbs. A state investigation found that American Salvage Inc. illegally disposed of the bulbs in Oct. 2007. American Salvage president Howard Kimmel says they didn't know hauling the bulbs to the trash site is illegal.

Companies and organizations everywhere are finding out that recycling fluorescent lamps not only helps the environment but it can also eliminate the risk of large government fines and negative PR.
