RECYCLING BATTERIES

Battery Recycling

Battery recycling protects our environment from heavy metal contamination. Commercial businesses, institutions and households rely on our comprehensive battery recycling program.

Batteries that are generated by households in small quantities or in large quantities from industrial facilities are in most cases considered hazardous waste and must be managed properly. Most "household" batteries and industrial batteries fail the toxicity characteristic test (TCLP) for mercury, silver, lead, chromium, and/or cadmium. Batteries, when disposed of must meet the specified treatment standards under land disposal restrictions: and some batteries (i.e., nickel-cadmium, lead, acid and mercury) have specific technologies that must be utilized under federal and state regulatory requirements.

Battery Recycling Reclamation of usable materials from batteries is an economical and environmentally sound decision. Recycling can reduce the risk of future financial liabilities associated with land disposal. Additionally, battery recycling gives a generator credit for waste minimization at an effective price.

All processing is completed under Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) operating guidelines and a certificate of recycling which fully documents the processing of each shipment in included with every invoice.
