New 2012 Fluorescent Lamp Ballast Standards Enviro.BLR.com To be effective in 2012, the Department of Energy has issued revised energy conservation standards for fluorescent lamp ballasts, according to this article from Enviro.BLR.com.It is estimated that the new standards should cumulatively save from 2.7 to 5.6 quadrillion BTUs of energy over the years 2014-2043, reducing pollution by up to 16-27 tons of CO2 and 0.40-1.47 tons of mercury.
